2012 – Exhibition: “Iranian sculptors in the Belgian residence in Tehran”

Exhibition: "Iranian sculptors in the Belgian residence in Tehran"

Celebrated in the residency of the Belgian Ambassador in Iran, "Elahe Gallery", "Mahomehr Institute" and "Art Cantara asbl" collaborated in organizing an exhibition featuring 29 Iranian sculptors, most of them popular and well known in Iran and abroad.

In her opening speech, Fery Malek-Madani said:

"This is not the first time that Belgians are hosting our exhibitions. Two years ago we had an exhibition of paintings here, and, since 2001, we had many exhibitions in Belgium, one of them was "10 women painters of Iran" that we renewed 10 years later with the same painters in March 2011 in Brussels.

Artistic exchanges allow different people and cultures to meet each other in a universal arena, above political sensitivities, and help to break stereotypes. This is the path that we have decided to follow."

During the opening ceremony Helia Darabi, art critic and curator of several exhibitions in Iran and abroad, and Hamid Reza Karami, critic and translator for art magazines and participant in many exhibitions in Iran and abroad as photographer, designer, video artist and painter presented an introduction on contemporary Iranian Art.

Further, Mr Nadalian, an internationally known nature artist presented a slide show of his project in Homoz Island in the Persian Gulf and, in addition, shared his experience in the field of artists exchange.

The exhibition was hosted by His Excellency the Ambassador of Belgium and his spouse to whom we present our deepest thanks and gratitude.
The curator, Mr. Mohammad Hussein EMAD is a famous sculptor whose artworks are exposed in different places in Tehran.

All the artworks are for sale and the benefits will be allocated to Behnam Daheshpour Foundation, an NGO in support of cancer patients.
